1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Dovee AI ("Dovee," "we," "our," or "us") at dovee.ai, app.dovee.ai, or any associated mobile application (collectively, the "Service"), you ("User," "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy, all of which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Dovee AI.

2. Description of Service

Dovee AI is an emotionally intelligent artificial intelligence platform designed to support individuals and couples in their relationships. The Service provides:

AI-powered voice and text-based relationship coaching sessions
Communication guidance and reflection tools
Personalized relationship insights based on your conversations
Evidence-informed techniques drawn from established relationship research

Dovee AI is NOT a licensed therapy service, mental health provider, or medical service. The Service is not a substitute for professional psychological counseling, couples therapy, crisis intervention, or any form of licensed mental health treatment.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using Dovee, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. You also represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country subject to United States embargo, OFAC sanctions, or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any United States, EU, or UK list of prohibited or restricted parties.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
You must provide accurate and current information during registration
You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of others
You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms

5. AI-Generated Content & Limitations

AI output is not always accurate. Dovee uses large language models (LLMs) to generate responses. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, contradictory, biased, out of date, or contain "hallucinated" facts. You should not rely on Dovee's output as a substitute for professional advice in legal, medical, financial, or other regulated domains.

Verify before acting: Always exercise independent judgment before acting on Dovee's suggestions, especially for significant decisions about your relationship, mental health, or wellbeing.
No guarantee of accuracy: Dovee may misremember earlier parts of a conversation, confuse details about you or your partner, or generate plausible-sounding statements that are not factually correct.
Subject to change: The underlying AI models, prompts, and capabilities of the Service may change at any time as we improve safety and quality.
No professional relationship created: Use of the Service does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, attorney-client, or any other professional relationship between you and Dovee or any of our personnel.

6. Not a Medical or Therapy Service — Crisis Resources

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Dovee AI is a wellness and personal development tool, not a licensed clinical service. Nothing in the Service constitutes medical or psychiatric advice, licensed couples or individual therapy, crisis intervention, emergency mental health support, or a diagnosis of any mental health condition.

Dovee includes safety features that attempt to detect crisis indicators and route users to human resources. These detection systems are not guaranteed to identify every crisis situation. Dovee is not a substitute for emergency services and may not respond instantly. If you are experiencing an emergency, contact emergency services directly — do not rely on Dovee.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to comply with our Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibits, among other things, harassment, illegal content, abuse of the AI system, security circumvention, and use by minors. Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination.

8. Couples & Multi-User Features

Dovee is designed for individuals in relationships and offers features that connect partners. The following terms apply to couples-related features:

Each partner has a separate account. Dovee does not offer joint accounts. Each partner agrees to these Terms individually.
Privacy by default: Each partner's conversations and private content are visible only to them. We will never share content from one partner to the other without explicit consent — see our Privacy Policy Section 7.
Consent for shared features: Features that involve cross-partner data (such as Pulse comparisons or shared insights) require opt-in from both partners.
One partner cancellation: If one partner cancels their subscription or deletes their account, the other partner's account and subscription remain unaffected. Shared features that depend on both partners may become unavailable.
Disputes between partners: Dovee is not responsible for resolving disputes between partners about content, decisions, or actions taken based on the Service.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to text, graphics, AI models, audio, software, design, and the Dovee name and logo — are the exclusive property of Dovee AI and our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of content you submit ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant Dovee AI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, process, transmit, modify, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing, improving, and securing the Service for you. This license terminates when you delete your User Content or your account, except where retention is required by law.

9a. Copyright Notices

Dovee is a private coaching service — User Content is stored privately for the user who submitted it and is not made publicly accessible. If you believe that content on the Service infringes your copyright, please contact hello@dovee.ai with details of the alleged infringement, including the copyrighted work, the location of the material, your contact information, and a good-faith statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner. We will respond to valid notices in accordance with applicable copyright law.

10. Subscription, Payments & Auto-Renewal

10a. Subscription Plans

Dovee offers subscription plans (Entry, Standard, Premium) and may offer free trials. Current pricing is available at dovee.ai and within the app. Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually).

10b. Auto-Renewal Disclosure

Important — Auto-Renewal Notice: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current rate until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize Dovee AI (or its payment processor, Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method on each renewal date. You can review your renewal date, change plans, or cancel at any time in your account settings.

How to cancel: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by emailing hello@dovee.ai. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until that date.
Renewal notices: For annual plans, we will send you an email reminder before your renewal date. For monthly plans, your billing cycle is shown in your account settings.
Price changes: We may change subscription fees with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes take effect on your next renewal — your continued use after the price change constitutes acceptance.
Free trials: If you sign up for a free trial, you must cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged. Trial terms (length, features, conversion price) are disclosed at signup.

10c. Refunds

Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. EU/UK consumers have a 14-day cooling-off right under the Consumer Rights Directive — by starting your subscription, you acknowledge that the digital service begins immediately and you expressly waive your withdrawal right after the service has started, where permitted by law. Specific refund terms by jurisdiction are available at dovee.ai/refunds.

10d. State-Specific Auto-Renewal Rights

California residents: You may cancel your subscription online with one-click cancellation in account settings. New York, Oregon, and other states with auto-renewal laws: we comply with applicable state notice and cancellation requirements.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. DOVEE AI DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, free of viruses, or that results obtained from use of the Service will be accurate, reliable, or meet your expectations. You assume the entire risk of using AI-generated outputs.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DOVEE AI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, RELATIONSHIP OUTCOMES, OR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF DOVEE AI HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO DOVEE AI IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Dovee AI and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of any law or third-party right; (d) your misuse of the Service.

14. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time through account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination:

Your right to use the Service ceases immediately
We will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, dispute resolution) will continue to apply

15. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

15a. Informal Resolution

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us at hello@dovee.ai and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 60 days.

15b. Binding Arbitration

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Delaware, USA, or via teleconference, in English.

15c. Class Action Waiver

YOU AND DOVEE AI AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

15d. 30-Day Opt-Out

You may opt out of arbitration and the class action waiver by sending written notice to hello@dovee.ai within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Your notice must include your name, email, and an unequivocal statement that you opt out of arbitration. If you opt out, the rest of these Terms still apply.

15e. Small Claims Court Carve-Out

Either party may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court instead of arbitration.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. For users outside the US, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence still apply.

17. Export Controls

The Service may be subject to United States export control laws. You agree not to use, export, re-export, or transfer the Service in violation of any applicable export control law, including embargoes, sanctions, and end-use restrictions.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes that affect your rights, we will give you at least 30 days' notice via email or in-app notice before the change takes effect. You may reject material changes by canceling your subscription before the effective date. For non-material changes (typo corrections, contact info), we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top.

19. Miscellaneous

Entire agreement: These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy) constitute the entire agreement between you and Dovee AI.
Severability: If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest of these Terms will remain in effect.
No waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
Assignment: You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Force majeure: Neither party is liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond their reasonable control.
